I pretty much went to see Short Term 12 because Brie Larson seems like someone I would like to be best friends with and I love watching her in every movie she’s done. I mean she even references Bring It On in this interview. Turns out, this is an unexpectedly fantastic movie. The troubled kids seem like real people, not just after school special characters (the adults speak like people I know in real life too, which is refreshing). The bad things don’t happen exactly when you’d expect, but the good things seem real and not forced like a fairy tale. It’s also paced well, with nice cinematography. There’s a reason why this movie has 99% positive reviews (out of 92 reviews) according to Rotten Tomatoes. Hooray for good movies!
